His Excellency, Jai Bir Rai is the current Minister for the Ministry of Education. He was conferred Dakyen by His Majesty The King on 7 November 2018. 

Prior to joining the Sherig family, His Excellency held the post of Chief Leadership Officer and Principal Trainer for the AMG group of Business from 2013-2017. He started his career in 2001 as a Trainee Officer under the Royal Institute of Management. Between 2010-2012, he served as the Head of Finance Division at the Agriculture Machinery Centre, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests. He also served as the Head of Finance under the Royal University of Bhutan and JDWNRH between 2002-2009.  

In addition, His Excellency worked as a Social Science Researcher and Consultant for the Royal Government of Bhutan and other Corporate Entities. He was also a National and Regional consultant and trainer in the field of Project Management, Leadership Development, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Fiscal Planning and Forecasting.   

His Excellency is an avid reader with great reverence for writers. He earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and Finance from the Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Sherubtse College, Bhutan. He hails from Phuentsholing under Chhukha Dzongkhag.
