In order to further review the National Youth Policy based on the revised situational report and develop a framework for revising the policy, the Youth Center Division of the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education conducted another round of consultative meeting with youth representatives, UNICEF and the consultant from 18-19 June, 2020. The main objective of the 2-day meeting that began yesterday was to deliberate on the issues especially the ones overlapping with other existing policies and re-prioritize the concerns and needs of youth for the revised policy.
Yesterday, the officials looked into the general structure of policy analysis to get a better picture of how to go ahead with the review of the National Youth Policy and revisited the issues identified in the situational report that was compiled and shared by the consultant earlier. The team also looked at the previous National Youth Policy and identified gaps that needed to be considered in the revised policy.
Today, the team continued discussions on the issues identified in the situational report, worked on the framework and developed a way forward for the revision of the policy. The consultation helped the officials sort out so many issues identified in the previous policy and iron out irrelevant contents, and draw up a clearer roadmap for the policy revision. The views and recommendations collected from this consultative meeting would guide the formulation of policy statements and other aspects of youth development in the revised policy. This meeting is supported by UNICEF.
